Informal Justice Court Project
In 2018, we embarked on the Informal Justice Project in collaboration with a Dutch organisation called the Aardschap Foundation and a number of technical partners including the Lagos State University Theater Department and the African Artists' Foundation. The multi-disciplinary research project is aimed at expanding access to justice through the use of legal clinics, mock trials and art. The findings of the research project will be published and presented to audiences in Africa and Europe and will be the basis for determining whether it is a viable model for achieving restorative justice.
So far, the four stage project has included an art exhibition depicting the awaiting trial situation in the country, a 2 day brainstorming workshop with some of our partners, legal clinics at the Ikoyi correctional center, presentations at the World Justice Conference and we are now embarking on stage 2 of the project. There is still a chance for your law firm or organisation to join the project. To do so, sign up here. Please note that only a few slots are available and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
